About Our Senior Grade
Our senior teams aim to provide a competitive but fun environment for players of all abilities to play hockey in Auckland.
During the winter season, each team has at least one training on a weeknight, and plays on Saturday or Sunday against other clubs in the Auckland Region. For students, we also offer the opportunity to participate in tertiary hockey through the University of Auckland. We run a variety of fun events throughout the year, and continue playing hockey through the summer months in a more social format.
No affiliation to Auckland University is required.

Winter Hockey
We have many senior teams which compete in the Auckland Hockey Winter Senior Competition from April to August each year.
We have teams in all men's and women's grades (Premier, Reserve & Divisional)
Our Premier trials start early to mid-March, while the rest of the club comes together at our annual muster in early March.
Our teams train at various locations, mainly in the central suburbs, while games are played all over Auckland. Discounts are available for students and representative players.
Tertiary Hockey
Throughout the year, players enrolled at the University of Auckland have the opportunity to represent the University and their respective faculties in various tertiary competitions, including the UTSNZ Tertiary Hockey Championships and Interfaculty Hockey.
The Tertiary Hockey Championships also serve as the selection tournament for the New Zealand Universities teams, which will compete in the Hockey NZ Affiliates Tournament.
Open to all University of Auckland students, places in these teams are not limited to those who play for the Auckland University Hockey Club.
Summer Hockey
From October to March each year, the club enters mixed teams into the 6-a-side summer hockey competition at Auckland Grammar School.
This competition offers a more social atmosphere for those keen get into the game, or maintain their skills and fitness over the summer months.
Mixed grade games are on weekday evenings- typically Wednesday and Thursday, and Female grade games are on Tuesday evenings.
Social Events
Each year, we host several club-wide social events, including our Bus Pub Crawl and Quiz Night.
These are a great chance to meet some of the other members in the club and have a great night out.
Teams usually organise their own events throughout the season, and we wrap up the year with our annual prizegiving in October. Keep an eye on our social media to keep up to date with the latest club events!
