Junior Hockey

Our junior teams are run by a team of dedicated parents, with teams for children in Year 1-8, and all ability levels. Our teams play in the Auckland Hockey Junior Competition, with games on Saturday mornings during May-September.

Winter Hockey

Fun Sticks (Year 1-2)

The Fun Sticks competition aims to introduce kids to hockey with an emphasis on having fun while developing fundamental skills. Teams have 6-10 players, with games played on 1/8-size hockey turfs.

Mini Sticks (Year 3-4)

Mini Sticks games are played between teams of 6-10 players on 1/4-size hockey turfs.

Kiwi Sticks (Year 5-6)

Kiwi Sticks games are played between teams of 7-10 players on 1/2-size hockey turfs with a standard goal.

Kwik Sticks (Year 7-8)

The Kwik Sticks competition is split into Development and Premier/Experienced grades. Development grade games are 6-a-side, and played on 1/2-size hockey turfs, while Premier/Experienced-level games are 11-a-side and played on full-size hockey turfs.

Summer Hockey

From October-December, we enter teams in the Auckland Hockey Summer Competition at Lloyd Elsmore Park, with games played on weekday evenings. This is a great opportunity for kids to pick up the game in a more social environment, or to keep up their skills over summer.

SITUATIONS VACANT

A club lives and dies by its volunteers and the University Junior Hockey club is no different.

We are always relying on the parents to contribute in an organising capacity as part of the committee or helping with the managing and coaching of our teams.  We are extremely grateful to those that do assist, however we are looking for more people to step up and play a role.

We also need to replace those parents whose children will no longer be part of the junior club as they transition into the youth set up.

If this does not happen then we are unable to run the club.
An example being that at this stage, we do not have anyone to run our summer competition.

If we do not have a volunteer for this we will not be entering teams into the summer competition.

Specifically, we are looking for:

Summer League Co-ordinator

Uniform and Gear Coordinator

Committee Members

Coaches and Managers for the 2018 season

If you are interested in taking up any of these roles and would like some more information please email Craig Parker junior@auhc.org
