Why are the fees so
high?
Over 90% of the fees go directly to the
Auckland Hockey Association for turf and administration charges.
The club endeavours to break even each season and has to attract
additional funding to subsidise the fees at the current level.
AUHC fees are cheaper than most hockey clubs in Auckland.

to maintain a certain percentage of students, it also has
places in all teams for players who are non-students.
Currently the Club has a 60-40% split between students and
non-students.
I have never played
hockey before, can I still join a team?
Of
course you can. The Club has a range of both men's and women's
social teams which include players of a variety of skill level -
a great start!

club?
AUHC has won a number of premier titles
over its history, most recently in 2004 our premier men won the
Auckland competition and our premier women's team came third.
The club also boasts a number of regional, national and
international players of very high standing.
How social is the club?
AUHC currently has two social men's teams and a social
women's team. In 2005, the club is looking to increase the
number of social teams we run, so if you are interested,
just give as an
email.
How long is the
season?
The season starts at the beginning of
April and runs until the middle of September.
Where do AUHC teams
practise?
Teams practise across several turf
facilities around Auckland, these include Auckland Grammar
School, Lloyd Elsmore Park and St Cuthberts College.
When are games played?
Games are played on
Saturdays (from 12 - 7pm) and Sundays (9am - 6pm) and the
times will vary each week. The draw is generally available
well in advance and most people find that they are able to
organise things around their games.
Where are most games played?
The Auckland
University Hockey Club participates in the Auckland Hockey
Competition, this means hockey competition games are played
around Auckland. Specifically at the follow turf facilities;
Auckland Grammar School, Lloyd Elsmore Park, Avondale

What is a University
Blue?
A university "Blue" is presented to a
select number of athletes from Auckland University at the
annual awards dinner. This tradition is derived from the
awarding of "Blues" at Oxford and Cambridge universities.
For a hockey player to qualify for the award, they must play
for AUHC, and represent Auckland at U21 level or above (or
equivalent level).
Can I attend NZ University Games?
The Games have been offered in some form
since 1902 and have been a vital part of the sporting
development of thousands of young Kiwis keen to continue their
sport from school to Varsity. AUHC has sent a team to this competition for many
years, and it is a fantastic few days of hockey and socialising.
